Records Fund

Fund the records desk.

Every records trail has real costs: agency deposits, search time, secure hosting, redaction, and source review. Give once or monthly so Albany records stay searchable and public.

Choose a funding focus

After you choose an amount, pick the records work it should strengthen. Contributions are tracked in the public ledger, and the public tracker shows which requests, productions, source notes, and review gates are cleared for release.

Your contribution impact

At $5: Secures a certified copy, basic mail cost, or minor fee estimate.

Frequency and amount

Monthly gifts keep records requests, hosting, and indexing work moving between big public moments.

Secure Stripe Checkout

Stripe handles payment details. Contributions appear in the public ledger after signed webhook confirmation. Support does not buy legal services, editorial control, private records access, or strategy control.

By contributing, you agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Contributions are not payment for legal services, do not give supporters control over strategy, and are not represented as tax-deductible unless separately verified in writing.

Transparency promise

We post a monthly ledger of records-related spending categories and update the public tracker as requests move from sent to acknowledged, estimated, produced, denied, appealed, or closed.

Active Funding Priorities

Current records costs and open review lanes. Contributions are directed toward public-records fees, source review, indexing, and related records-desk work.

  • Direct public-records deposits requested by the City of Albany, Linn County, police agencies, and the District Attorney
  • City public-records handling, search, routing, and fee-audit records
  • APD March 19 supplemental search audit
  • DA 26PRR008-E challenge support
  • Linn County Assessor & Tax Collector: property-class audit request
  • Albany TLT and transient lodging tax audit records

What the fund pays for

  • Direct public-records deposits requested by the City of Albany, Linn County, police agencies, and the District Attorney
  • Transcription and OCR processing to make audio, video, and PDF records fully searchable
  • Secure storage, search indexing, privacy redaction, and document-analysis tools

  • Legal, privacy, and source-review checks before public release

What it does not pay for

  • Donor influence or editorial control over investigations, strategy, or publication schedules

  • Disclosing private resident or neighbor metadata or contributor identities on the public ledger
  • Outrage campaigns, political lobbying, or settlement-pressure funds
